[11] USB Network Card Fails to Detect Some Wi-Fi Signals

Time:2025-02-21 Browse:29 Second

Problem Description

During the use of a USB wireless network card, you may encounter situations where some Wi-Fi signals cannot be detected. This can limit the device's ability to connect to specific wireless networks, affecting the network usage experience. Additionally, you might want to search for Wi-Fi signals only within a specified frequency band range. By changing the channel code of the wireless network card, we can attempt to resolve this issue.

Solution Steps

Take the USB network card EP - 1691 as an example (applicable to USB network cards with MTK chips):

Step 1: Open the Network Adapter Settings

1. Press the Win + X key combination on your keyboard. In the pop - up menu, select "Device Manager".

2. In the Device Manager window, find the "Network adapters" option and expand it.

Step 2: Select the Target Network Card
In the "Network adapters" list, find the USB wireless network card you are using. For example, if it's named "802.11ac wireless LAN Card", right - click on this network card and then select "Properties".

Step 3: Enter the 802.11ac Property Settings
In the pop - up network card properties window, switch to the "Advanced" tab. Locate "Channel Number (2.4GHz)" and "Channel Number (5GHz)". Click on the "Value" drop - down list and make the following selections:

· For "Channel Number (2.4GHz)", select "1 - 13".

· For "Channel Number (5GHz)", select "36 - 165".

Note: You can choose the desired channel range to search for Wi - Fi signals within that range. If you select "14" for the "Channel Number (2.4GHz)", the network card will not be able to detect 2.4G band Wi - Fi signals.

Step 4: Save the Settings and Test

1. After selecting the frequency band codes, click the "OK" button to save the settings.

2. Close the Device Manager window.

3. Try to search for wireless networks again to see if the previously undetected frequency bands can now be displayed normally. You can check the list of available wireless networks by clicking the network icon on the taskbar.
