[15] Do I need to re - plug the network card after the computer wakes up from sleep or restarts?
Problem description
The computer is set to automatically go into sleep mode after 5 minutes of inactivity. When the computer wakes up, the USB wireless network card cannot automatically connect to the wireless signal or detect the WiFi signal. You need to manually unplug and plug in the network card for it to automatically connect to the WiFi.
Solution (applicable to all USB network cards)
1. Open the Device Manager: There are two common ways to do this.
• Method 1: Right - click on the "This PC" icon, then select "Manage" from the context menu. In the Computer Management window, find and select "Device Manager".
• Method 2: Right - click on the "Start" button and choose "Device Manager" from the pop - up menu.
2. In the Network adapters section, find the USB network card you are using (look for the one with "USB" in its name). Right - click on it and select "Properties".
3. On the Properties page, select the "Power management" tab. Uncheck the option "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power", and then click "OK".
