[5] What should I do if my wireless network card can detect the signal but fails to connect?
①Confirm the wireless name and wireless password.
If the wireless signal you're trying to connect to belongs to someone else and you enter the wrong wireless password, you won't be able to connect to the wireless signal. If it's your own wireless router, please log in to the router's management interface to confirm the wireless name and password.
②Check the MAC filtering function of the router.
If the router has the MAC address filtering function enabled or has disabled this computer, it will result in an inability to connect to the wireless signal. Please turn off the MAC filtering function or add this computer to the MAC whitelist.
③Confirm the strength of the wireless signal
If the distance between the computer and the router is too far or there are too many obstacles in between, the wireless signal received by the network card will be weak, resulting in a failure to connect to the wireless signal. It is recommended to move the computer closer to the router and then search for the wireless signal to connect.
④Delete the wireless configuration files on the computer.
If you have changed the wireless password but not the wireless name, the incorrect wireless configuration files saved on the computer may prevent you from connecting to the wireless signal. After clearing the wireless configuration files, search for and connect to the wireless network again.
Take Windows 11 as an example: Go to Settings → Network & Internet → WLAN → Manage known networks.
Select the wireless signal you want to delete and choose to "Forget".
⑤Replace with other devices for connection testing.
Use other laptops or mobile phones to connect to the signal and test whether the connection is successful. If it can connect, it is recommended to check the computer for problems or try resetting the router and setting it up again.
