If you want faster Starlink speeds, SpaceX is now selling a "Performance" dish for its satellite internet service that can offer download speeds over 400Mbps.
At $1,999, it's not cheap. However, the new Performance dish is a refresh of SpaceX’s older flat high-performance dish, which originally retailed for $2,500 when it arrived in 2022.
The new product is being sold on Starlink.com for US business customers, who pay for pricier monthly plans. Previous Performance dishes have offered faster speeds compared with the consumer-focused Starlink terminal, but it looks like SpaceX improved the latest model by focusing on its ability to survive tough environments for up to 10 years. This includes the dish that works on moving vehicles.
“Engineered for durability, the Starlink Performance is enclosed in aluminum and designed for resilient connectivity in harsh and remote environments, extreme weather, and in-motion usage. Operates on AC and/or DC power,” the company says.
To demonstrate the dish’s durability, the company posted a video showing the hardware aboard a SpaceX drone ship. The dish remains intact even as a Falcon 9 rocket lands nearby.
“Starlink Performance is built to support high-vibration mobility uses, such as for agriculture and construction applications, qualified for a 10-year mission life in the field,” SpaceX added in a tweet. The company is also offering a three-year warranty for the dish, up from the one-year warranty for the standard Starlink dish in the US.
SpaceX says the new performance dish is “capable of enduring winds up to 270+ kph (170+ mph), temperatures from -40°C to 60°C (-40°F to 140°F), high-vibration environments, and is qualified for a 10-year lifespan in highly corrosive saltwater environments.” The official durability guide contains more information. Meanwhile, a support page notes the new performance model draws on average 70 watts of power, down from 110 watts in the older model.
In addition, Starlink’s website has been updated to mention the arrival of gigabit speeds in 2026, teasing the new performance dish will be capable of supporting the faster broadband.
“Starlink is focused on making network enhancements which will enable gigabit speeds starting in the most remote places on Earth with the Performance Kit,” the official specs for the new performance dish say. “Service plan upgrades will be available in 2026. No hardware changes needed.”
SpaceX also appears to be developing two other dish models, including one designed for gigabit speeds and another as a follow-up to Starlink Mini. That said, the gigabit speeds for Starlink will depend on SpaceX's Starship vehicle carrying next-generation Starlink satellites into orbit— a feat the rocket has yet to accomplish.
